Chlorophyll is the green pigment found in plants, algae & cyanobacteria. The ability of chlorophyll to form complexes with heavy metals, certain chemicals and toxins aids with the removal of these harmful substances from the body. Chlorophyllin, a water-soluble mixture derived from chlorophyll has been used orally as an internal deodorant and topically in the treatment of slow-healing wounds. Studies suggested that chlorophyllin supplementation may be beneficial in reducing gastrointestinal uptake of carcinogens, decreasing oxidative damage, promoting DNA synthesis and repair and reducing risk of alfatoxin-associated liver cancer as well as promoting weight loss due to its detox properties.
